The UKCountryRadio.com 9th Birthday Party & Awards

Our 9th Birthday Party And Awards took place on Saturday 3rd September 2016 at Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport.

The evening began with a live performance in the hotel reception from North Wales family band Blue Genes...




The main show began with a set from The Danny Lee Band...



The evening included the announcement of the winners of The UK Country Music Awards, presented by UKCountryRadio.com to celebrate the best in UK Country Music. The first Award of the night, UK Male Country Singer Of The Year was awarded to Thorne Hill....


Following a short break during with the first course of the three-course celebratory dinner was served, Thorne took took the stage for an acoustic performance:






The next Award to be presented was for UK Country Duo Of The Year. It went to Essex-based Holloway Road....


The main course meal was followed by the announcement of the winner of the UK Country Album Of The Year Award. The Award was won by Glasgow-based duo Raintown for their album "Writing On The Wall".


5-piece band Grand Prairie were next to perform, making their third appearance at our Birthday Party And Awards...





Grand Prairie's performance was followed by the announcement of UK Country Group Of The Year. The Award was presented to Gary Perkins & The Breeze...


After Desserts, it was the final of our Listeners' Club Song Award, a special awarded presented for a song promoted through UKCountryRadio.com during the previous year. Three of the five finalists were in attendance to perform their song:

Irish singer Jacqui Sharkey flew in to perform "Take Me To Paris"
Kelly Michelle of This Is Country performed "Blonde Whiskey Drinker"
And London-based songwriter Wayne Jacobs performed "Paws Of War"

Videos were shown of the remaining two finalists before the audience were invited to cast their vote.

The next main stage performance came from Steve Young, just a few weeks after releasing his debut album....



The next award to be presented was UK Female Country Singer Of The Year. It went to north-east based singer Zenne...



Having flown all the way from Ireland for our Listeners' Club Song Award final, we thought it only fair to let Jacqui Sharkey play a full set. She was joined by the Birmingham-based Salt Creek Band....



After Jacqui's performance, it was time to announce the winner of the UKCountryRadio.com Listeners' Club Song Award following the live final earlier in the evening. The award went, for the fifth consecutive year, to Wayne Jacobs for his song "Paws of War"....


The evening was co-presented by UKCountryRadio.com founder Allan Watkiss, together with UK singer-songwriter Lucy Zirins who performed her original song "Mercy"...



The final Award to be presented was the prestigious UK Country Artist Of The Year Award. It was won for the second time by Glasgow-based duo Raintown


The event concluded with a performance from UK Country Group Of The Year Gary Perkins & The Breeze:






During the evening, certificates were also presented to UK Country Artist of The Year Award Finalists Hayley Ryan, Jade Helliwell, Paris Georgia, Sarah Lucy Dole, Thorne Hill, Zenne and This Is Country.
