Two of my fellow presenters on UKCountryRadio.com are responsible for my love of country music - Graham L.Hall and Bob Preedy. It was while filing away records at a hospital radio station where Graham was presenting that I stumbled across the music, he encouraged me to tune in to Bob's BBC show, and I was hooked.
After nearly 15 years of working for various commercial and BBC radio stations, I decided to launch my own - UKCountryRadio.com, with the aim of playing UK artists alongside the big names from America and, in the process, providing a much-needed outlet for talented British artists.
As well as running the station, I am on air every day. My weekday evening show gets underway at 5pm with The Vault - an hour of songs we don't get to play too often as they are all minor hits and album tracks. I love The Vault, as you really do get to hear some gems.
Then after 6pm, we're into the country music news of the day from both sides of the Atlantic. I also take a look into the history books with "This Day In Country Music History", and test your country music knowledge with my "Never Ending Country Music Quiz". And each week, I feature a newly-released album with a track each day across the week.
There's no rest at the weekends - join me at 10am Saturdays and 6pm Sundays for the American Hot Country Countdown with all the big hits from the US country charts. Click here to see the latest chart.
I was proud to received the CMA's International Broadcast Award in January 2011. The CMA said they gave it to me for "oustanding services to country music". I have a very nice trophy - and a nice picture for CMA boss Steve Moore (right).
