Country singer RITA B has won the UKCountryRadio.com Listeners’ Club Award for 2011 in recognition of her song “Got Caught When Your Guard Was Down”. Rita has two original albums to her credit and performs in several guises – as a solo artist, and as one half of three different country music duos. She also regularly performs tribute shows to Patsy Cline and Ladies Of Country.
Rita was presented with the Listeners’ Club Award at UKCountryRadio.com’s Fourth Birthday Party on September 17th. Accepting the trophy from UK country music legend John Aston, Rita said, “I am absolutely gobsmacked at everything. Thank you to everyone who has voted for me. And thank you to UKCountryRadio.com, which is doing a great job in promoting UK artists”.
Rita is the third artist to win the online radio station’s annual award, following in the footsteps of Jonny Williams in 2010, and inaugural winners Richard Plank & Guy Charles in 2009
This is the first year that voting took place in a live final at UKCountryRadio.com’s annual Birthday Party. The event, held at the Best Western Premier Yew Lodge Hotel in Kegworth to celebrate four years of the radio station, featured appearances from the five Listeners' Club Award finalists.....

Singer Debra Andrew opened the show, performing tracks from her debut solo album “Child Of The Universe”, which is available from our Online Music Store.
Debra performed the self-penned title track "Child Of The Universe", together with "In My Dreams" and the James Taylor song "You've Got A Friend".
Debra was accompanied by Allan Watkiss on piano.
Another highlight of the evening was the first ever UK appearance from US Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame Member Allen Karl,
Allen was
supported by UK band Red Rock County. It was the first time they had worked together, but not the last - as Allen and Red Rock County will be touring the UK in April 2012.
Allen was recently named Male Vocalist of the Year by the European Country Music Association, and its President Rafel Corbi flew in from Spain to present the awards on the night.
UKCountryRadio.com also completed its first ever live outside broadcast from the Birthday Party, and also launched a new website and image over the Birthday Party weekend.
