BILL DURHAM (US artist)

When he was sixteen years old, Bill Durham opened a show for country music legend Ernest Tubb who encouraged him to pursue his music.

In 2004, Bill released his first album called My Kind Of Music. Most of the tracks were covers, including Folsom Prison Blues, Proud Mary and Hey Good Lookin'. The album also included the rockabilly track Pink Cadillac which was a number one hit in the IndieWorld charts.

Bill's second album I've Got The Song saw Bill move to record original songs. He spent a year listening to several hundred songs before choosing the twelve to include on the album. Several tracks are written by Don Singleton who wrote Mickey Gilley's hit Fool For Your Love and Take Me To The Country which was a hit for Mel McDaniel. A further three tracks were written by Paul Craft, the writer of Mark Chesnutt's Brother Jukebox and Moe Bandy's You Wrote My Life. Among these is My Own Sweet Time which the studio musicians referred to as "that Bluegrass song".

In May 2010, Bill released a new single from the album called "Southern Lady" . It was written by Ronny Scaife, Don Singleton, and Phil Thomas. Between them, they have notched up quite a few country music hits, writing for Gene Watson, Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, Mel McDaniel and Mickey Gilley.

The album's title track "I've Got The Song" was written by Jimmy Evans and his daughter Marsha Lackey. Jimmy is a member of the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame. He played bass guitar for Conway Twitty in the 1950s and also played with Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks.

Bill works at a farm supply store in Clarksdale, Mississippi, which is known as "the birthplace of the blues". However, his ultimate goal is to take a break from his job and head to Europe, and in particular the UK, to perform his music.
